Minutes of 9/12/09 NY Executive Committee meeting 

Venue: Hibiscus Restaurant, Richmond Hill Queens 

Time: 9-11:30pm

Attending: Kris Lachman, Riaz Bacchus, Shirley Brijlal, Eno Chabinauth, Radha and Howard Bernstein, Ganee Abdool

Topics discussed: 

1. Form and content of Executive Committee meetings: Riaz had circulated an email discussing how we should proceed to conduct our meetings in the future. The committee felt comfortable with the same informal approach we have been having rather than appoint officers and to have a stricter agenda. 
2. Website: We reviewed:
   1. What type of photographs should be posted in the future. Perhaps more purposeful photos related to the mission of the organization as opposed to candid photos of those people attending the events was discussed
   2. All executive committee members will be registered on the site by this coming week
   3. It was discovered that the site registration process had a software glitch this week as there were 9 people wanting to complete the process that could not. This will be fixed immediately 

1. Video presentation to target approaching charities for funds:

   It was felt at the end of long discussions that the DVD that Riaz has from his 2008 trip to LCGSS will not be sufficient for our purposes and that we will most likely have to make another in Guyana. We need to wait on this however until we define the mission statement of LCGSS-AA for the future

2. Mission Statement: We are in the process of defining the mission of our organization and once competed, will be the guide for our future events and activities. This statement will eventually be posted on the website
3. Presentations to Charitable organizations: We discussed obtaining a consultant and we will do some additional research on this as to its costs and benefits. We know we will need both a well written presentation along with an impressive short video approach for obtaining potential funds from other charities and groups. 
4. Tax issues and disbursement timing of our revenues will be investigated by Radha 
5. Terry Gajraj the musician is mentioning his doing a free concert for raising funds. Kris is going to explore that further with Terry
6. Pundit Gurdatt Jagnandan expressed interest in getting involved with the committee and he will be invited to the next meeting.
